Hypericum Perforatum - St. John's-wort

An Image Of St. Johns Wort
Hypericum perforatum, commonly known as St. Johns Wort (a native of Europe), occurs commonly along roadsides and hedgerows. It's a perennial herb that produces a bright yellow flower, which is often used with the leaves for medicinal purposes. It has one of the most glamorous histories in the plant kingdom.
It's interesting to note that, In the US, to control this lovely bright yellow wildflower, Chrysolina (a large genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Chrysomelinae) was successfully naturalized. Afterwards, the grateful farmers raised the monument in honor of the beetle that saved their crops.
